Hello, is there any information about the guitar Reeves Gabrels is playing during this set? It at first glance it looks like a Bronze or Concert Fly but there seems to be some sort of MIDI system above the bridge?
Funnily enough I'm pretty sure I saw this guitar for sale recently. Is that why you're asking?
If I remember correctly it was a custom one off built for him. I'll see if I can find the listing..

I didn't know about a sale. The metallic teal color and lack of pick ups while still sounding like an electric are cool to me.

Haha ya what a coincidence! I think it's meant to be. It can be yours for the low price of 25K!

25k is a bit much. However if I ever get my hands on a Fly with messed up electronics I might build something similar.

A guy in the FB groups recently converted a Deluxe to a poplar-bodied Concert by filling the cavities and repainting. In the last few years of USM production, you could actually order Flys without pickup routs (I seem to recall @dayn or someone else having a tangerine Deluxe with only RMC saddles as pickups).
Edit: Here’s a link to the public FB group post about the converted Deluxe.

Indeed I did - back when there was a Custom Shop I ordered a Deluxe in Tangerine, hardtail, no pickups or controls, empty control cavity. I then had RMC saddles added with an 8-pin DIN jack. Nothing else onboard.
Cool guitar.

Bump. The guitar is once again for sale on FB Marketplace. It's now "make an offer", rather than $25k firm. It would, of course, be much cheaper to find a '95 Deluxe, fill the pickup routs and control holes, add thickness to the neck (assuming that spec wasn't exclusive to Reeves' Nitefly), refinish in metallic teal (with a decal of Gabrels' 289155BP serial, if you'd like) and then install a Roland GK internal kit. I edited the OP to identify the make and serial, for future reference.
very cool. unfortunately i dont have 20 grand lying around haha. building this is a good diy project, i will keep it in mind when i come across a fly with broken or missing electronics.
I cannot contact the seller because marketplace only works in the USA. Anyway, there are two pretty deep cracks below the bridge, indicating structural damage. Would have been cool as a collectible since it was used during 1. Outside and Earthling, which are my favorite Bowie albums.
Please tell me where to find this Guitar in sale. Iam booking for It since very long time! Please help me find It. No problem if It Is damaged! I pay well. Anyone Who can help me and tell me where finding It, please help me. It Is very important for me
Thanks, Diego
