There is no rush on this, but if you have or hear of a used Parker DF (Dragonfly/Maxxfly) for sale, I'd be interested. Not too expensive, bottom of the DF line is preferred.

I have two, my partner had a PM10 but would like to step up to something lighter.

A PDF would do ONLY if it is less than 5 pounds and has a hard case.

@Jb63 mentioned that he has a few PDFs that he was looking to part with.

I seem to recall that they’re all generally lightweight; maybe not under 5lbs though.

She's a small gal, about 110lbs, so light weight is better.

Her PM10 is not that heavy, but it's noticeably heavier than my DF.

I don't need the Piezo as she just plays rhythm. When she wants to play lead lines she uses her synth.

But we are both picking up and putting down the guitar all night, and after a while, you notice the weight.

A PDF under 5 pounds would be considered.

Look for a PDF 105 since they are the lightest in the series and have the higher grade hardware.
I believe they average 5-7lbs, but don’t quote me on that. I had a 105 that weighed in at 6.5lbs.

A side note when I talked with a friend I hadn’t seen in years last summer he said his vintage Les Paul weighed 15lbs.
I had mentioned getting a Fly that weighed 5lbs because my back hurt from “regular” guitars.
My gold ‘97 Classic weighs exactly 5lbs 8oz., I sold a ‘94 Hardtail that was exactly 14oz lighter without the trem.
I used a very accurate electronic luggage scale.

Some Reverend guitars are lighter weight and reasonably priced off Craigslist or musicgoround etc. I believe they can be modded easily too.

I've got an LTD "Faux-Les-Paul" that weights over 8.5 pounds. It's the reason I bought my first Parker DF.

I was playing an Epiphone Casino but we got a once a week gig on a quay over a salt water lagoon and I didn't want the salt air inside the hollow body guitar. So I got the LTD in a trade. Nice guitar for a cheap one. The biggest fault was the slightly soft frets. It had over-wound humbuckers so I bought some P90s from Guitar Fetish that fit in the humbucker cutouts. After a few years of playing P90s, everything else just sounds dull.

But switching instruments from sax to flute to guitar to wind synth in semi random orders (songs are called by our perception of that the audience needs) my right arm was getting tired and my left shoulder a bit sensitive. So I convinced myself that I needed a new guitar. My partner/wife who is also a guitar player heard me thinking out loud about that, and right away said,"You need a new guitar. You need a better guitar." (Having a guitarist for a wife has its advantages).

My wife has a Parker PM10 which is probably 6to7 pounds and it is built so well, you have to take it into the bright sunlight to see the seam where the neck was glued to the body. At the time of wanting a new guitar, the DF came out, so I decided to take a chance on it. It's probably going to be my last guitar unless it dies an untimely death.

The PM10 being an import has had some compromises in manufacture. Cheap pickup switch which I replaced and regular fretwire. She's had it more than a dozen years and the frets are showing a bit of wear. Not enough to hurt the playing, but enough to notice.

She likes my DF better, it's lighter, and the hardened stainless frets. We should have bought her one while the DFs were still being made in the USA.

So I figure sooner or later a nice priced DF will make it to the market.

Absolutely true!

I'm a huge P90 fan too, caused by my #1 (and first 'real') guitar, a 1964 Gibson ES-330 TD.
As you have done, I have converted several other of my guitars to HB P90's.
Hey, they're the bacon of the pickup world, everything sounds better with them.

More to the topic at hand Bob, might I suggest your wife seriously consider a Danelectro?!
While not in the same league as the Parker family, and perhaps not quite as versatile as far as switching options go, these are amazing tone machines nonetheless. Sure, you can do the surf sound if you want, but a mellow jazz or funky rhythm is just as easily produced. And just like a P90 you can't beat those lipstick pickups!

Honestly, they are light and easy on the shoulder and incredibly comfortable to play. I have a '56 and a '59 (Korean reissues) and wouldn't trade them for anything. They're the most fun you can have with Masonite

And since you're in the entertainment biz, you can't discount the fact that they can be had in a wide range of colours (even sparkle finish) which is a plus for showmanship. Even if you elect not to use it on stage, I firmly believe every guitar player should have at least one in his collection.

Hey now N-N no peer pressure.

The guitar is spotless. It's like a brand new guitar. Zero wear, frets, fingerboard, or anywhere else.

Nice! The natural finish works well with the now classic Parker lines, and you’re right most people will never know the difference.
Sometimes you get really good deals out of Guitar Center too.
