As someone who has never played bass for more than 5 consecutive minutes I would have immediately bought it if it had frets

I wouldn't know for certain - But I recall reading that only four MaxxFly basses were built (fretted or otherwise).

I love a fretless bass. If I was a little more flush, I would've bought it myself.
