Hey guys,
I got an opportunity for a local pickup for this hardtail but this has some cosmic mods that make me doubt, I really dig the hardtail model for lower tunings but I'd like to have your opinion on this opportunity, the asking price is like 1k3 usd. The model is from 94'. The owner said the master volume has been moved to make the playing easier for him, and as you can see there are drilling holes from a previous roland unit.
I attach you pics below, cheers !
Thoughts on this Fly hardtail
Re: Thoughts on this Fly hardtail
@KenanJ, if you specifically want a hardtail model (for lower tunings, as you said), or perhaps wouldn't mind acquiring a Fly you wouldn't feel guilty about subsequently modifying to your heart's content, $1,300 USD doesn't seem like too bad of a price. But if you have other priorities (such as hoping to try a specific, different model), or think you could find a Fly in better condition for not much more money, you may wish to pass on this offer.
Even if everything on the guitar works as well as it did in 1994, when I see this Fly, I see it as a project guitar inviting me to spend more money on it later (even if only to restore it).

Like alwaysn spot on input @mmmguitar, I think I will book a trial with the guy since we're nearby I'll give it a shot, I like the idea of a fixed bridge for like I said lower tuning and overall better stability, but the only thing that annoys me are the mods, but sure If I take it I have to accept the fact that it's gonna be a black sheepmmmguitar wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 2:38 pm @KenanJ, if you specifically want a hardtail model (for lower tunings, as you said), or perhaps wouldn't mind acquiring a Fly you wouldn't feel guilty about subsequently modifying to your heart's content, $1,300 USD doesn't seem like too bad of a price. Black sheep guitars are the easiest ones to buy when you tell yourself you can designate it to be left in an alternate tuning (it's the first step to waking up to discover you own A LOT of guitars). I suppose it will come down to how good the guitar feels when you try it out.KenanJ wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 2:42 pm the only thing that annoys me are the mods, but sure If I take it I have to accept the fact that it's gonna be a black sheep
