Rocket Pickups

Post by Soloaxer »

Has anyone installed Rocket pickups in their Fly? I bought a VERY pricey handmade custom axe from RH custom guitars that has Rocket pickups installed. OOOuuuhh! These give a very precise and clear sound. They are not high power and are for players that want what I would say are higher power old school PAFs with a very articulate voice and just smooth as silk. (Yeah, that's pretty abstract, isn't it?). The split coils or buckers both sound excellent. Rick Harrison, the luthier, said they were the rage at the NAMM show some time ago. I would like to hear from mmmguitar on this one. I think he has left no stone unturned in this department.

Though that's flattering, I haven't tried them. I do remember reading people rave about them a few years ago. Please let me know your continued impressions.

I'll add them to the list of pickups I'd like to get my hands on to try (along with Rio Grande, Music Man heat-treated, Dean Zelinsky Sidekick and TruTap, Zexcoil, Fluence McRocklin set, Zhangbucker, and many others I'm forgetting, at this moment).

For my Flys, I'm currently content with a Dimarzio DP202F in the bridge and Sustainiac in the neck. I do need to find a good noiseless single for the middle rout I've added to one of them.
