Am I crazy or does that sound really reasonable?

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
I agree, @DLQ; if Sharon has the bandwidth to take on the job, there’s no one that is more familiar with Fly finishes! The $600 ballpark is incredibly reasonable!
Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
I might have to borrow this idea of finding a beater and getting a yellow fly!
Generally love yellow too, strats and such.

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
I aid $700 for a full refinish a couple years back. The result was AMAZING. Shaz ... rocks!
Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
Thanks for thinking of me, @Sindrist! It sold before I saw the listing - but I’m telling myself I’ve been avoiding imports, anyway
I’ve been taking a break from Fly projects until the weather warms up enough for me to do some spraying in my garage, and one will be repainting a beater ‘97 Deluxe yellow.

Bump. If anyone has a lead on a DF842, I'd like to get my hands on one to compare to my other Flys. Given I haven't even seen one for sale since the Maltese Reverb listing for the trashed factory lemon at the end of 2020, I'm not hoping for much.

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
@Billy has the one I sold him a decade ago. Maybe he wants to sell it, or lend it?
Meanwhile I'm trying to contact a buddy of mine that's fallen off the surface of the planet who has one.
Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
I would reluctantly sell you my DF842.
I haven't gotten as much use out of it as I wanted to.
But, honestly, I am freaking broke these days. What kind of price in today's market is fair?
You would be the specialist in this area.
Mine is converted to 13-pin. Its all graph tech and thought out well. It even has the world's greatest guitar gimmick, the freeway switch installed.
Anyway.

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
In the event that you do, I'm happy to make a gentleman's agreement to sell the guitar back to you for the same price once your disposable income's back to where you want it. Were I to add equity with a Sustainiac or other relatively permanent mod, I would seek your permission before doing so. I encourage the other community members to hold me to it.
Feel free to PM or email me with a ballpark price you're comfortable with - The worst I can do is pass for now; and someone else will probably pay what you want.
To better contextualize my interest: I prefer fatter necks. Though I still intend to beef up one of my beater Ken-era Flys when I refinish it, my ultimate goal is to determine which two of my Flys I like the most, then sell the rest here for the fair price of what I've put into them. Though my Ken-era Flys are the best built overall, I like the neck of my 2011 Supreme enough to want to try another 24 fret SKU from the final years of production; and figured I should try to satisfy my longstanding curiosity to try an 842 in the same transaction.
I was either unaware or had forgotten that you owned one. Show that sucker off!

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
I talk big when I know I probably can't afford the guitar. That and your sentiment is potentially undermined by my being several woodland critters filling out a trenchcoat.

So now the question is: Marc Wants To Sell ... What? Might you be selling something I'm looking for?
Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
You already have first dibs on my Supreme, should I ever decide to part with it. But so long as my health and gainful employment remain through my current home lease, you'll be waiting a little while.

Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
Long life to you, Marc! Keep your guitar and enjoy it.
(Funny how my friendship with a guy I never met means so much more to me than the guitar of my dreams and relegates it to "a piece of wood with strings"!)
Re: Marc Wants To Buy...
Nope. He wants to keep it. You might have to reluctantly accept @jb63's reluctant offer.
