WANTED: .010 Tremolo Spring For 1996 Fly Classic
For reasons beyond my grasp, mine snapped in two as I was changing strings recently.
I've switched to 9's but I'd like to find a replacement 10 if possible.

They have been looking expensive but a 10 spring just popped up on Reverb.

Ack. Leave it to me to post a thread and then forget about it for nearly two months. Clearly someone else on Reverb wanted that spring, too. Oh well, I'll keep keeping an eye out.

Great strategy by those who make a living buying and selling (Parker) guitars.
Buy a guitar off craigslist or such for 1500 bucks, sell it on Ebay or Reverb for 3.5K without the spare spring.
Sell the spare spring for another 150-200 bucks.
Golden!
Personally I find this despicable.
But who's asking me?

@Patzag, I tell myself the silver lining is that hardly anyone is falling for it anymore, now that there’s really only one guy left still doing it, and it’s mainly the YOLO guys in the Facebook groups still “falling” for his listings (they know darn well that every purchase they make at asking price is encouraging the dude to raise the price of his next Parker listing, but apparently they can’t stand the feeling of saving money). So long as it seems to be a few fools who know better being parted from their money by one greedy individual, I feel better about witnessing it.

@@mmmguitar, Yeah. Maybe.
You know - I'm a pro musician working for a Church full time. I make little money and I'm driven by passion more than anything else.
But I still GAS for a Supreme and a Spanish Fly.
These were always a little more than I could afford.
But today, because of money-motivated sharks, the pleasure of owning and playing these instruments is getting less and less likely. It's a little frustrating.

I feel for you too Brother
Imagine my surprise when I scored the trashed Fly deluxe for $30 & started looking for the missing tremolo parts..
Guess I was lucky to get a NEW 9 spring for $100.. Thanks Dan!!
Won't Be Long & it will be transformed into a Monster for Cheap..

I remember having a couple of these that came with my guitars back in the day, never used since I always use 9s, I will look for them in my house, if interested send PM =)Helmanfrow wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:59 pm For reasons beyond my grasp, mine snapped in two as I was changing strings recently.

Re: WANTED: .010 Tremolo Spring For 1996 Fly Classic
I feel that pain. BUT (and it’s a big butt) at least you are gigging what you’ve got. I think that’s the whole point, and I don’t think there’s really anything better than a classic or a deluxe, just lighter, heavier, or prettier.
just plain lost
Re: WANTED: .010 Tremolo Spring For 1996 Fly Classic
I agree with this; they’re subtle differences among Flys.
That being said, the Fly Nylon, of course, is fundamentally different, but, @Patzag, just come up to the Northeast sometime and you can play the one I have
Re: WANTED: .010 Tremolo Spring For 1996 Fly Classic
Thanks VJ.
That would be a treat!
I'm not really complaining. My Classic is amazing and nothing touches it! The Deluxe is a pound lighter. I have P90s in it right now as a long term experiment. The results are decent, but as usual, I play a guitar less when it has single coils in it. Event the beefier p90s. I love the sound, much less the "feel", if you know what I mean.
I'd love to play an all Mahogany fly. I think that'd be a hoot.
Just love trying stuff - and I always come back to my Classic!

Re: WANTED: .010 Tremolo Spring For 1996 Fly Classic
Surely Ken or the folks at Washburn still have the specs on how to manufacture these. Maybe even the tooling?
How hard could it be? It's a piece of bent spring steel.
EDIT
Ah, I see it's already in the "in development" phase.
