Top horn
Top horn
Greetings, I recently bought a fly, the problem I’m having is the top horn pushes into my chest making it uncomfortable to play for more than 20 minutes, doesn’t matter standing or sitting. I thought about sanding and rounding the thing out but that would decrease it’s value so I figured I’d ask if anyone else has the same problem. Thanks
Re: Top horn
It was a common enough complaint/dealbreaker to result in the shift to the DF body shape. Rather than sanding down the horn, you may wish to try moving the strap button from the end of the horn to the “elbow” of it, instead.

Re: Top horn
That was the dealbreaker for me until 2010 when I got my first DF. You could try padding it a bit?

Re: Top horn
Only real solution is to wear your guitar a bit higher, or a bit lower.
I went with a bit higher. Makes playing a bit easier TBH..
Cheers

Re: Top horn
The top horn was the dealbreaker for me as well. IMO it's just plain fugly.
I was still toying around with the idea when the DF series came along, and now I have two and Mrs.Notes has one. We've sold or given away most of our other guitars. Since we play for a living, we only need a pair and a spare. We're not collectors (although there is nothing wrong with collecting).
Thankfully the gigs are coming back post-pandemic, so our main source of income and one of our main sources of joy is back on track.

I love the horn.
Yes it's a pain in the plexus, but I think it looks cool and distinctive. And the balance is fantastic.

Re: Top horn
Everybody has different tastes. Nothing wrong with that.
My DF also has fantastic balance. It's more like wearing the guitar than holding it. I suspect most Parkers are like that.

It's to me one of the most beautiful and distinctive parts of the design though, and how it harmonises with the headstock as well. What a design!
