Re: Fly Saddles through the years
Although the Graph Tech saddles worked physically better than the USM saddles, they didn't pair well with anything but the newer Graph Tech preamp. I think they may have had some kind of mismatch with the Fishman preamp (learned that the hard way). The USM saddles require some "clean-up" ...

Re: ISO: Hard Tail Fly
Per VJ, Dimarzio (likely Steve Blucher) and Ken confirmed that the “Jazz” pickups were just Gen 1s with gold screws. It’s been my experience that some Flys certainly seem to induce more voltage in the pickups than others (and I’d hope a hardtail Classic would resonate differently from a Deluxe in f...

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/msg/d/lakeport-1993-parker-fly-deluxe-hardtail/7374721274.html no affiliation, but here's one. needs some neck paint work. That poor fly looks like someone tried to DIY a Bondo repair on it. There's no telling just how bad the damage actually is to that guitar. The ...

Re: Springs
It seems the Reverb seller who was flipping the $1,800 Flys for $4,000 with 11 gauge springs installed is now selling the 10 gauge springs he took out of the guitars for $190. In case the grift isn’t apparent: The guy buys a Fly for around two grand just to pull the 9 or 10 spring out of it, then b...

Re: Where's Dave?
Wow, I just found a real nice surprise. Some outfit on YouTube has recently published a fully remastered HD version of Dave's entire "Live at Metalworks" performance. I'm spending my day getting reacquainted with this fantastic concert.
Enjoy...

Where's Dave?
So it looks like Dave Martone hasn't yet made the jump from the old forum over to Fly Clone. So I'm wondering if anyone has good contact info for Dave to let him know about the site and the resources available. I really enjoyed having his participation on the old Parker forum. Dave is one of my favo...

Re: Springs
Thanks @vertigocycles - it figures that someone had pursued this option and I'm not surprised at all that it's not viable. So on with recreating the original flat springs...

Re: New Guitar Day from New Forum Member
I think this may be an earlier "prototype" of the Radial Fly that Terry had developed as a potential model that would be less expensive to produce. At the time of the factory tour I attended, the Dragon was the super secret new model that was coming out and the radial neck idea was used on...

I am just blown away...
I am just blown away by this site and the scope and depth of the resources available here for Parker guitar owners. What vjmanzo has built here is invaluable to all current and future Parker owners. I have spent the past few days reading through most everything on the site and I am surprised that I'...

Re: Fly Saddles through the years
The newest saddles used were the Graph Tech saddles (beyond the first USM and the RMC). They weren't just after-market. I believe they were used for the final 3-5 years of production (someone else may know exactly what years). https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2372/8913/products/pn-8011-00-b_1024x10...

Re: The Fly Leaning Bridge Posts Issue
Some may recall that I was the "patient 0" for this problem. I discovered the bridge post leaning issue while troubleshooting the tuning stability issues for my Fly Mojo (2008). What a great piece of Parker Guitars history! Terry Atkins may not have been the original innovator and design ...

Re: Springs
I don't recall seeing any statements on how the flat spring improved upon the use of coil springs in a guitar. If there are good reasons that I'm unaware of, please share them. Thanks, @Noodler; I know a few folks that have asked this, and my team and I are working on reporting some data on this so...

Re: The Fly Leaning Bridge Posts Issue
billy - that PDF doc of the issue is fantastic. I was really hoping that someone had accurately captured this issue and the fix since my original thread on this problem on the old forum is long gone. Some may recall that I was the "patient 0" for this problem. I discovered the bridge post...

Re: Blocking the Bridge of a Fly
That's pretty slick so that the wood block only replaces the spring. Here's another way using a simple block, but requires the removal of more "guts" in order to use a larger block like this:

Re: Springs
I may be in the minority on this opinion, but I never thought of the flat spring design in the Fly as being one of Ken's better ideas. I don't recall seeing any statements on how the flat spring improved upon the use of coil springs in a guitar. If there are good reasons that I'm unaware of, please ...

Re: Official Parker Guitars Website and Forum
For those who may be unfamiliar with the Wayback Machine (yes this is a fun reference to the Peabody and Sherman segments from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show), here's some guidance. This link will get you to what seems to be the last functional snapshot of the main forum index page: https://web.archi...

I found out about this forum over on TGP. Very happy to not only see a dedicated forum for the Fly enthusiasts, but all the work being done to keep the dream alive...
