Re: Repairing surface damage around Artist neck joint
mmmguitar's assessment is excellent, but I don't think this is a DIY repair job. It very likely could be repaired, Parkers can be amazingly resilient despite taking some ugly damage, but it all depends on whether the wood is actually broken or the varnish is just messed up, and how much money you ...

That is a beautiful guitar! What year is it?
$1200 isn't bad, but let me see how devastating the holidays will be on my finances first, and if I can't find a "for parts" one that would warrant more tinkering.

Wanted: NiteFly for restoration
SoOoo, I find myself wanting to tinker with some guitars, and I haven't yet done a full restoration on a Parker NiteFly and would love to tackle that!
So I was wondering if any of our wonderful forum members just so happen to have some NiteFly in need of work or parts of a NiteFly that could be put ...

Re: Your thoughts on the Fly Mojo
I'm a fan of the Mojo!
It's the most resonant electric guitar I've ever had, and it just feels amazing when playing, whether it's sitting or standing.
I can't speak for the pickups because mine has been messed with and doesn't have the original pickups, but everything else is still working, though ...

That is a yellow guitar!
It's like a yellow Corvette: I don't know if I would want to own one myself, but damn it's nice!
Congratulations!

My Flys (1999 & 2010)
I hadn't uploaded some pics of my Parkers yet because I had never stopped to take a good 'documenting' picture of them. But I was taking photos of some guitars today and figured this was a good time to do it! :D
I have only two Parkers: A 1999 NiteFly, and a 2010 Fly Mojo.

Re: Help with pre-refined saddles
Hi! Welcome! :)
They are most likely gunked up, and some careful prying might be required. Remove the string and the screw all the way and try to give it a little wiggle and see if it comes loose. Don't pull up and don't push with too much force on it because there's a tiny little wire that connects ...

Re: Import Parker for my daughter
All Parkers are 'used' at this point. Those just made a documented extra round between owners.
Back when you could go and get a brand new one, that could have made a difference, but nowadays the same buying tips apply to all of them.

Re: Radial Nitefly Worth It?
My two cents...
Nothing against the non-composite versions of Flys, and I'm not trying to be elitist, but I think the soul of a Parker is the whole composite materials construction. That is what distinguishes them from other guitars out there.
Aside from that, it becomes really a matter of you ...

Re: Fly Deluxe Ice Blue Burst 2005 QC issues
It's hard to tell for sure without being able to examine the guitar in person, but it seems like there's a series of misalignments with this one.
Ken Parker does comment in one of his videos about a lamentable decline in QC after he left the company, maybe that's what we're seeing here? :(

I would do a proper touch-up on dings and scratches, but never change the whole color, white guitars are sexy!

oOoh there are the official measurements!
.070 and .050, yep, that checks!
That's 1.77 and 1.27 millimeters for those who don't speak Freedom Measurements.

Re: Fretboard cracks, possible warping
(...) Ken's finger joint with the CF reinforcement on the back ends up being so stable that the amount it is able to flex is in the area you see over the top and outside edges of the fingers, where the finish ends up being the weakest link.
I hope I'm wrong! A separating neck is a worst case ...

Re: Fretboard cracks, possible warping
It's hard to diagnose through pictures, but I think it's not the fingerboard, but the neck that's separating where it joins the body.
I'm afraid you need a tech/luthier to look at it in person.
